When visiting the college where you have been accepted, make the most out of it. The admissions officers have read your self-introduction essay. Now, it is your turn to find out more about the college, especially its academics.
There are activities that you can do that will help you with this:
Sit in a class.
Contact the school or a professor if you can sit in a class. The best way to know the college’s academics is to experience a lecture. See if you will be comfortable with the way the professors conduct their lectures and presentations. Is the classroom environment ideal to your personal learning style?
Talk to current students.
Campus Visit, Self-introduction essayBefore or after attending the class, you might want to interact with the current students. Know what they have to say about the class and the college as a whole. This is both a personal and an academic look at your school, sort of like your “describe yourself essay”. The current students can tell you about life and academics in the college.
Experiencing college during the visit is important. However, it is also important that you take down notes once in awhile. Experiencing may just leave you with the sensory experiences and not the details.
So what do you think? Do you like the college? Will it be able to offer the best academic experience you could hope for?
