The United States of America has a couple of laws that are meant to protect the environment. Among these laws are the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES), and the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The Endangered Species Act was created and passed by Congress in 1973, after President Nixon declared the prevailing conservation efforts as inadequate. Additionally, within the same year, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna was created. CITES is an international accord that curbs global trade in animals and plants that would be hurt by the trade (Pretorius, 1995). The Marine Mammal Protection Act was proclaimed in the United States of America on 21st October 1972. The act forbids harassing, capturing, hunting or killing of marine mammals in American waters as well as by its citizens on high seas, and further prohibits importation of sea mammals including their products into America (Baur and Irvin, 2001). Consequently, the creation of these three acts - The Endangered Species Act (ESA), and the Marine Mammal Protection Act have resulted to increased authority of the federal government and curtailed authority of the state government over the control of wild fauna and flora, whilst the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild and Fauna (CITES) has levelled the authority of both of these governments; in addition these laws have strengthened the relationship between the federal and the states government.

The events leading to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings by the United States have different meanings to different people. Reading different historical sources, one notes that different authors have given different meanings to the same events that happened in the later months of 1945. The events that occurred after the bombings also have been given different meanings by the observers who had the chance to be on the ground days after the two bombings. As such, a conventional reader cannot help questioning whether the authors either had different experiences of the same effect or whether it was a case of selective use of evidence. In this essay, different author’s accounts on the happenings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be evaluated in order to prove that authors giving first-hand accounts of events sometimes choose to use evidence selectively in order to advance what they believe is right or wrong. Most of the times, this means that history appears different to audiences who hear or read the first hand testimonies.

The self-strengthening movement of Imperial China was a movement that lasted for the time ranging from 1861-1895, and it accounted for some of the institutional reforms that were intiated at the end of the Qing Dynasty (Spence, 1999). The movement was formed after the defeat of China by the Great Britain in the Opium war, among other series of military defeats of the time. The Chinese government also faced internal rebellion, more especially from the Manchu authority and also the uprising farmers of the time. This situation called for the need of improving the Chinese military on restoring the gone sovereignty. Censorship can be defined in quite a variety of ways but the most commonly used definition is that it is the act of suppressing images, ideas or words that are regarded as “offensive” by the censor (one who succeeds in imposing his/her personal moral or political values on other people especially without their will). This can be done by private groups exerting pressure on others or by the government. Governmental censorship is unconstitutional in any country that practices it.

The Communist Manifesto vividly describes the proletariat or the “modern working class” (Marx, & Engels, 2005, p. 8) as a group of laborers that can sustain life by finding work and their ability to locate work is made possible only if “their labour increases capital.” (Marx, & Engels, 2005, p. 8) Marx and Engel’s imagery portrays the proletariats as “piecemeal” or “a commodity, like every other article of commerce” (Marx, & Engels, 2005, p. 8) that is consistently “exposed to all the vicissitudes of competitions, to all the fluctuations of the market.” (Marx, & Engels, 2005, p. 8) In Marx and Engel’s vision, this process causes the proletarians to lose all “individual character” and lessen their desire to produce quality work; therefore, the workman becomes an “appendage of the machine” to perform the “most easily acquired knack, that is required of him.” (Marx, & Engels, 2005, p. 8)

As a result of implementing IT innovations, the management might also become over-dependent on computer systems. This leads to a situation in which the organization might become inflexible and as a result unable to cope with the fast changing external environment. This means that the organization might no longer have an effective strategic focus.
