Read MoreA cause and effect essay essentially involves the need to identify a particular topic, and why it occurred. As well as identifying any steps or events that led up to an event occurring, you will then need to explain what happened as a result of this events taking place.
If you need to write a cause and effect essay on animals, then there is a variety of different approaches that you may take. It may be that you may wish to look at various events that may occur in an animal’s lifetime. For example, you may wish to look at reproduction in various animals, and how this takes place. Therefore, if you were to look at mammals, then you would look at how reproduction occurs, as well as various details relating to the gestation period, followed by the actual act of birth itself.
Alternatively, you may wish to look at a particular event or process that took place that meant that the animal had to evolve. For example, there is a famous case relating to moths that lived near to a town and, as a result of pollution, the environment that the moths lifting became darker.
Therefore, the moths had to evolve the colour of their wings, so as to increase the camouflage that they had, which enabled them to avoid potential predators. In this scenario, the cause might be pollution, whilst the effect was the evolution of the colour of the moths.
What sections to include
Once you have an idea of what topic you wish to write about, you will then need to include various sections as part of your essay. For example, the first section is likely to be the introduction. In the introduction, you will introduce the reader to the topic that you will be discussing.
Furthermore, you may give a brief background as to the process that took place, and what consequences occurred. However, you do not need to go into too much detail, as this can be saved for the next section: the body of your essay.
The body section will then go into far greater detail, examining all the different aspects relating to the cause and effect of the issue that you are discussing. This will generally be the longest section of your essay, and will be followed by the conclusion.
The conclusion will essentially bring all the different points together that you have mentioned in the introduction and body sections, so as to finalise your essay.
